Nowhere else is human life condensed and depicted with such precision in music; nowhere else are art and everyday life so closely and immediately intertwined as within the Lied: performing the most sensitive and exuberant song compositions amidst the breathtaking mountain scenery of the Valais, experiencing the power of nature up close, and sharing its strength with the audience in the historical setting of Stockalperschloss Brig, are the driving forces behind the RHONEFESTIVAL FÜR LIEDKUNST. In the first edition of the RHONEFESTIVAL, the poet Rainer Maria Rilke takes center stage, who made the Valais his home and found his final resting place in Raron, not far from Brig.
