    FELIX GYGLI BARITONE
    BENJAMIN MEAD PIANO

  • „I stood in gloomy daydreams and gazed at her portrait“

On the opening of the 7th festival season, the Rittersaal will resonate with a selection of Franz Schubert’s great settings of poetry by Mayrhofer, Heine and Goethe. Similar to the narrative density of an opera but more delicate, as only the protagonist’s perspective is experienced, Schubert’s songs and cycles tell compelling soul portraits of lost love, the search for solace in nature, and constantly explore the boundaries of humanity – all while gazing in wonder at the world.

This season’s WINTER CONCERT features the rising Swiss baritone FELIX GYGLI, who has been a guest in Valais on multiple occasions and made his RHONEFESTIVAL debut in the LIEDERGARTEN in 2023. He will be collaborating with locally based pianist BENJAMIN MEAD, known for his numerous international performances as a highly sensitive and passionate piano partner.
